SERVICES
We service most modern and vintage amplifiers specializing in vintage
amp restoration. We have, or have access to info and parts for most guitar
amps over the ages. If a guitar amp's worth repairing, restoring or rebuilding,
the doctor can do it, given the time. The time to repair older amplifiers
increases by the decade. If it took 40 years to get in it's state, a month
or so to get it back together isn't too much to ask.
The doctor, Steve Dikun, has nearly 30 years
experience in guitar amplifier repair, currently providing service for
a number of studios, rehearsal rentals and back-up for local repairmen
who get stuck on a problem. Anything can be fixed, although there is a
limit to cost effectiveness. If you aren't sure if it worth repairing,
give the doctor a call.
We also do set-up, wiring, nut cutting and general guitar repair. We recone
most modern and vintage instrument speakers. General pricing is $60 for
10", $70. for 12", and $85. for 15". Prices may vary depending
on parts cost for some brands.
Rates for repair are $80. an hour plus parts. $20. for biasing if you
bring tubes. Free biasing for tubes purchased here. $40 plus strings for
guitar set-ups. New strings must be used to assure a proper set-up. $50
plus strings for Floyd Rose or other locking bridge styles.
Sorry,,, I don't work
on vintage tube stereo's, TV's, and toasters. That's a different specialization
and there's a place that would be better suited.
That said, I also
don't have a desire to work on POD's, modeling amps, and digital multi-effect
pedals. In my not so humble opinion, the music world would be better served
if the shipping container bringing that junk here would slip off the top
of the stack and sink into the deep blue sea. That in itself wouldn't
help create a batch of great songwriters, but at least the sound they
make wouldn't hurt my ears.
